About Hey Atlas Creative
Hey Atlas Creative is a graphic design studio owned by award-winning designer Cade Roach (he/they), who is also the Senior Designer for Team OwlCrate. Cade has worked with OwlCrate since 2016, first as a freelancer, and officially joined the team in April 2024.
Cade's design skills have been used to create everything from illustrations to book designs to social media graphics and beyond. Beyond his designs, he’s also a great public speaker.
Cade and his partner own a creative community center on Whidbey Island called Meet Market. This queer and trans-owned business plays a vital role in creating a community for the people of Coupeville on Whidbey Island, Washington, and is focused on creativity, collaboration, and youth empowerment.
Hey Atlas Creative x OwlCrate
Since 2016, Cade has worked hard to create every theme announcement to date for OwlCrate’s YA Fantasy subscription box, as well as past OwlCrate Jr boxes. Since joining the team, he has also been the designer behind many graphics that are shared across our social media channels.
Beyond the theme reveals, he has also created designs for many bookish items that have been featured in our past YA Fantasy and Jr boxes. These items range from bookmarks, patches, notebooks, and stickers, to name only a few.
Cade is also the artist behind our Literary Luggage enamel pin collection, where he designed all twelve pins featured in our YA fantasy book subscription boxes. These pins were inspired by a range of fandoms, like Gallant, Outlander, A Darker Shade of Magic, A Sorcery of Thorns, City of Brass, An Ember in the Ashes, Serpent & Dove, Fable, and From Blood and Ash. He also designed the Compass Pin Banner, which was featured in our January 2022 'Thrill of the Hunt' YA Fantasy OwlCrate box and is the perfect item for displaying the pins from that year and beyond.
We also can’t forget about his designs for our Flowers Collection. This collection first dropped in January 2024, but we released even more amazing merchandise in June 2024.
Flowers have long been associated with the LGBTQIA+ community, and 10% of each sale is donated to Lambda Literary, a non-profit organization that champions LGBTQIA+ books, writers, and readers through awards, fellowships, school programs, retreats, reviews, and so much more.
This collection features sweaters, shirts, and mugs with floral designs inspired by violets, carnations, lavenders, roses, hyacinths, and tulips. In total, there are six designs to choose from.
