At OwlCrate, we work with fantastic authors whose books we feature as special or limited editions. The books featured in our monthly boxes are always new releases from a range of diverse authors.
This article is a spotlight on Olivie Blake, the author behind the book in our August 2023 Adult Fantasy box. Read on to find out more about her!
Olivie Blake’s Bio
Olivie Blake (She/Her) is an award-winning and New York Times-bestselling author best known for her novel The Atlas Six, which came out in early 2020. Blake focuses on writing adult contemporary fantasy, and her books often have sci-fi elements to them. She also loves to incorporate paranormal and supernatural topics into her writing, and has written more than ten books to date.
Blake (whose real name is Alexene Farol Follmuth) is of half-Filipino descent. She was born and raised in America, and currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and son. She focuses mainly on writing adult fantasy books under her pen name and young adult fantasy books under her real name. Her pen name first came around when she was anonymously working on fanfiction but has now become a well-known name in the fantasy genre.
Her journey as an author began when she self-published a few of her books, which were then picked up for traditional publishing after going viral on BookTok and Bookstagram. This also led to The Atlas Six being picked up by Amazon Studios for adaptation into a TV series.
Team OwlCrate loves Blake’s writing, and beyond featuring her book in one of our Adult Fantasy boxes, we have also included items inspired by The Atlas Six in our YA fantasy box, including an Alexandrian Society Bento Box (from our October 2022 'A Study in Shadows' YA fantasy box), Knowledge Is Carnage Throw Blanket (from our February 2023 'Magic & Mischief' YA fantasy box), and Gods of Our Own Universes Journal (from our September 2023 'Drown Your Secrets' YA fantasy box).

The Atlas Series by Olivie Blake
The Atlas Six
The Alexandrian Society is a secret society made up of powerful magical academics who take care of lost knowledge. They recruit six of the most talented magicians every ten years, and these compete to gain access to a life of knowledge, wealth, power, and prestige.
The story follows the latest group of six: Libby Rhodes, Nico de Varona, Reina Mori, Parisa Kamali, Callum Nova, and Tristan Caine—all with their unique magical abilities, like navigating worlds inside the mind, influencing people's emotions, and understanding the language of life. They must prove they’re worthy of being selected for initiation within a year by contributing to various subjects of impossibility, like time and space, luck and thought, and life and death.
But there are only five places available, and one person faces elimination. Alliances form, rivalries intensify, and all six must fight to gain a spot among the Alexandrians.
The Atlas Paradox
The second book in this series follows the five who successfully joined The Alexandrian Society. Faced with new challenges, their loyalty is tested, hearts are broken, and the shocking truth about what The Society really is, is revealed.
The Atlas Complex
Six Alexandrian library recruits deal with their deadly recruitment terms and their powers while fighting to survive against the outside world, which is plotting to destroy them. You can find out more about the conclusion of this incredible series here.
Stand-Alone Books by Olivie Blake
Alone With You In The Ether is a contemporary fiction novel about Regan, a counterfeit artist who's bipolar, and Aldo, a doctoral student obsessed with time travel, who meet each other by chance at an Art Institute. Although they both struggle with their mental health and have very different personalities, the six conversations they engage in change their lives forever.
One For My Enemy is a fantasy Romeo and Juliet retelling set in present-day New York City. The story is about two rival witch families, the Antonova sisters and the Fedorov brothers, who have been fighting to maintain control of their criminal activities for twelve years. The Antonovas are known for their illegal intoxicants, while the Fedorovs engage in extortion and control the city's magic.
A change in one family’s interests causes old issues to resurface. As the conflict gets out of hand, a member of each family is brought together, which forces everyone to pick a side.
OwlCrate Edition of Masters of Death
Masters of Death by Olivie Blake was our August 2023 “Forever Is A Curse” Adult Fantasy choice. This book is equal parts paranormal, horror, queer, and urban fantasy.
This book follows Viola Marek, a vampire estate agent who's struggling to sell a haunted house. To make things worse, the ghost that haunts the house was murdered there and won’t move on unless he solves the mystery of how he died.
Viola decides to ask the godson of Death himself, Fox D'Mora, who's a medium and most definitely also a fraud, for help. The duo, along with a poltergeist, a personal trainer, an angel, a reaper, and a few other creatures, work together to solve the mystery.
