Six Best Completed Romantasy Series For When You Need The Next Book

By Carolyn Ivancic

The recent popularization of romantic fantasy (aka romantasy) has me so excited, especially because it means it’s my time to shine in the recommendations department.

I know as well as anyone that one of the most frustrating things as a reader who’s starting a new beloved series is waiting years and years (and years) for the next one (where are my Crescent City fans at?). Thankfully, series that have been finished are always there to save the day.

Here are six completed Romantasy series to binge when you’re craving more between the release dates of your favorite books!

Completed Romantasy Series For Young Adults

The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson

“It can take years to mold a dream. It takes only a fraction of a second for it to be shattered.”

Books in Series: 3

This series begins with The Kiss of Deception and takes you on a journey through the Kingdom of Morrighan as Princess Lia flees a marriage her parents arranged. Soon, she settles into a new life in a distant village when two handsome strangers show up. Lia must continue her deception, even as she finds herself falling in love.

The thing I love most about Pearson’s writing is her ability to immerse me in her world. The tension she creates in this romantasy series is like no other and only gets better as the books go on.

If you can’t get enough of this series, then the good news is that Pearson’s Dance of Thieves duology and novella Morrighan are set in the same universe!

Fae of Rewyth Series by Emily Blackwood

“He kissed me like I was the only thing keeping him alive, like I was his only hope at survival.”

Books in Series: 5

Starting with House of Lies and Sorrow, in this series we follow Jade Farrow, who’s forced into a marriage with a brutal fae prince known to kill his human wives. Will she die on her wedding night, or will her betrothed be the very one to save her?

This series is a great introduction to the genre if you’ve yet to dip your toes in! I think fans of ACOTAR would love it, and the books are short, easy reads, each around 300 pages long.

Blackwood is a master at building romantic tension and sprinkling in dramatic twists. I flew through this romantasy series and immediately hopped on the bandwagon and ordered her other books.

Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

“If you think I'm jealous because someone else got to stab you, then you're right.”

Books in Series: 3

The Once Upon A Broken Heart series is positively whimsical and reads like a classic children’s fairy tale. After Evangeline Fox strikes a deal with the Prince of Hearts to heal her broken heart, we follow her into the Magnificent North. Seeing as it’s unwise to make a deal with a Fate, the Prince of Hearts has other tricks up his sleeve that could either lead to Happily Ever After or her own ruin.

Although this spinoff is set in the world of Caraval, you don’t need to read Garber’s other books to love this romantasy series (but I loved reading Caraval, too, so I would recommend it either way!). I loved every minute of being immersed in this colorful world written by Stephanie Garber.

Completed Romantasy Series For Young Adults

Artefacts of Ouranos Series by Nisha J. Tuli

“Hunger is a language I know. A script I've written a thousand times.”

Books in Series: 4

In Trial of the Sun Queen, the first book in this series, Lor enters a deadly competition to win the Sun King’s heart to get her revenge on the terrible Aurora King. The only problem is that Lor is not a citizen of the Sun King’s court, and the other competitors will stop at nothing to take her out of the competition. Lor is determined to win because if she doesn’t, she’ll face death or fall back into the hands of the Aurora King.

For light spice, morally gray fae, and slow-burn romance, this completed romantasy series will be the perfect thing to add to your TBR! The action, politics, and betrayal will leave you breathless.

The Shepherd King Duology by Rachel Gillig

“There once was a girl, clever and good, who tarried in shadow in the depths of the wood.”

Books in Series: 2

There will never be a day when you won’t hear me recommending this duology because I need everyone to read it. Full of dark twists and turns, One Dark Window tells the story of Elspeth Spindle in the mist-locked kingdom of Blunder.

Thrust into a game of deception, Elspeth must team up with the Captain of the Destriers (the group of men who hunt down those infected with magic) to rid Blunder of its curse for good.

Some of my favorite things about this romantasy series include magic in the form of cards, a girl with a monster living in her head, haunting nursery rhymes, and last but by no means least, Ravyn Yew (this doesn’t require further explanation—IYKYK). Rachel Gillig is a superb storyteller. Both of these books have my heart and were my favorite reads in 2024.

The War of Lost Hearts Trilogy by Carissa Broadbent

“Never look back. And never question stepping forward and saying, ‘I deserve to live.’”

Books in Series: 3

This trilogy begins with Daughter of No Worlds and follows Tisaanah as she embarks on a journey to save her best friend. To join the ranks of the Orders—an organization of powerful magic Wielders—she must apprentice Maxantarius Farlione. His past might be the key to Tisaanah’s future, but her growing feelings may be a threat to both of them.

This dual-POV series is full of dark magic that will leave you wanting more. The emotional depth and the enemies-to-lovers angst are some of the best parts about this romantasy series. If you love badass FMCs, slow-burn romance, and light spice, this one’s for you!

Carolyn is a fantasy-loving book dragon who either spends her days reading, writing, or daydreaming about reading and writing. She lives in Illinois with her menace of a feline and her growing collection of pretty books. You can find her on TikTok and Instagram @carolynlikesbooks
