- Greenteeth by Molly O’Neill
Temperance gets thrown into the lake after she’s accused of being a witch by the town’s new pastor. Maybe he was right; maybe she is a witch, but that doesn’t make it right to throw a woman into a lake where a monster lives in the depths!
Luckily for Temperance, Jenny Greenteeth doesn’t kill her when she crashes into the water. The two quickly discover that the pastor isn’t just a small-minded man; he’s way worse than that. He’s not only wicked but also a formidable foe.
Temperance and Jenny team up with a goblin to retrieve the magical items necessary to take the pastor out once and for all. Greenteeth explores friendship and humanity through the lens of the canon of British folklore and mythology .

Mistress of Bones by Maria Z. Medina
“It’s been thousands of years since the gods lifted the continents into the air so humanity could thrive…”
– Mistress of Bones by Maria Z. Medina
Necromancers aren’t supposed to exist in Anchor. The gods ripped the continents from the world’s surface to save humanity, using their bones to keep the land tethered, but Azul del Arroyo doesn’t care about this.
Azul is a necromancer responsible for her sister’s death and is determined to retrieve her remains before they’re destroyed, even if that means entering into a cat-and-mouse game with the Emissary of the Lord Death.
Their game leads them into the Court of Cienpuentes, where mortals are celebrating a time of enlightenment. The court has turned their worship from the gods to science. In all their revelry and innovation, humans have forgotten what it means to deserve God's sacrifice… and the gods are furious. They want their bones back, even if they have to enter the mortal’s realm to get them back.

When the Tides Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley
“I think I am the fish, and he is the net.”
- When the Tides Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley
Benigno Caldera is a Puerto Rican migrant working as an ironworker in Brooklyn. When he’s commissioned by a Coney Island side-show proprietor to make an aquatic tank for the newest exhibit in Morgan’s Menagerie of Human Oddities, Benny thinks his life is starting to look up. Or he did until he got roped into also hunting the newest exhibition piece: a merman, stolen out of the East River.
Now Benny’s a part of this show family whether he likes it or not. The crew and performers are nice enough, but he keeps finding himself drawn back to the tank where Río’s being held captive.
The Shape of Water meets The Greatest Showman in this romantasy debut about a man who falls in love with a merman and the lengths he’ll go to free them both.
This one’s for everyone who thinks adults deserve illustrated fantasy novels, too. When the Tides Held the Moon will be published on April 29, 2025, with full-color endpapers and twenty-seven (yes, two-seven!) illustrations drawn by the author.
Unlock the Dark by Sasa Hawk
“For some locks, we should be grateful they hold. But no lock had ever held against her magic.”
– Unlock the Dark by Sasa Hawk
This standalone romantasy is for any fans of Brigid Kemmerer and Lexi Ryan. In this story, we follow Elia, whose path-making magic is linked to her dying father. Desperate to provide for her siblings, she’s forced to tether her father to life so she can continue using her magic.
But evading death has its own consequences—a soul for a soul—and Elia quickly faces the consequences of her action when the god of death claims her youngest brother as a servant.
To save her brother’s soul, she finds herself turning to Trys, a bookworm prince, who may be able to help. Ultimately, they make a deal: she’ll help Trys find a magical scroll, and Trys will marry Elia so she can finally let her father die without destroying her family. This should be easy… and it is until Trys reads the scroll he’s been searching for and turns into a monster.
Now Elia has to save him too—not just because he’s the only one who can help her protect her family but because she’s fallen for him.
Unlock the Dark from debut author Sasa Hawk comes out on August 25, 2025.
Romance Debut Authors
Single Player by Tara Tai
“I believe hope is our beating hearts reminding us that there is still life in this world worth fighting for.”
– Single Player by Tara Tai
Cat Li’s new job writing the love storylines for the upcoming game “Compass Hollow” combines the two things she loves most in life: video games and swoony romances . This is her dream job, and she’s not going to let anything get in her way—not even Andi Zhang, her boss and resident happily-ever-after hater. It doesn’t matter how hot Andi is; Cat’s here for a job, and she’s going to see it through.
Andi Zhang is Compass Hollow’s creative director with a chip on their shoulder. Internet trolls doxxed them years ago, and they’ve spent all their time since then trying to prove that they’re a game dev meant to be taken seriously.
In their opinion, a game doesn’t need romance to be good. Or it shouldn’t. Too bad one of the main investors insists that Compass Hollow adds romantic elements, and that's where Cat Li comes in with her cute smile and grating idealism.
As the two continue working together, they uncover a plot meant to sabotage Compass Hollow’s release. Now they have to find a way to work together before they crash and burn along with their game.
Single Player from debut author Tara Tai comes out on January 7, 2025.

When Devils Sing by Xan Kaur
‘“I can't help it when people are frightened," says Merricat. "I always want to frighten them more.”’
- Shirly Jackson
Every thirteen years when the cicadas emerge from the ground in Carrion, Georgia, people go missing. This year the only evidence of Dawson Sumter’s disappearance is a smattering of blood left in a motel owned by Neera Singh’s family.
Dawson’s only meant to be a name on a list of unfortunate accidents that plague Carrion. It’s simply a fact of life here: some people die. Others disappear without a trace.
Neera’s not willing to accept that. She sets out with a true crime podcaster, a nepo baby, and the (estranged) daughter of a hitman to uncover the truth about what happened to Dawson. But what they find out runs deeper than a series of unsolved disappearances.
An ancient urban legend about three devils seems to be the root not only of the missing people in Carrion but also of the unfathomable riches in the nearby Lake Clearwater community. The southern gothic debut is perfect for fans of She Is a Haunting and Midsommar.
When Devils Sing from debut author Xan Kaur comes out on June 3, 2025.
