By Paula Espinosa
If you’re looking for an easy book to really hook you, look no further. Here are 5 spicy romance novels (with a lil chili scale out of 5!!!) that will keep you wanting more.
Depending on how much spice you like, one of these spicy romance novels will be for you…
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren 🌶️
The Unhoneymooners focuses on Olive, the unlucky twin, the yin to her yang, Amy (aka the perfect twin), whose meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a movie.
After Amy finances her entire wedding by winning internet contests and giveaways, she forces Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy , Ethan, who just happens to be the best man at the wedding.
When the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only two people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And after all, someone’s got to take the all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii.
I was captivated by this story, and I finished it in two days. When I picked this book up, the last thing I expected to read about was a close-knit Mexican American family , which is a familiar sight for someone like me. Representation in books matters so much, and The Unhoneymooners did an excellent job at portraying a modern immigrant family.
The romance was definitely romancing with this one, and it’s the PERFECT summer book, with beaches and sunsets that make you feel as though you’re right beside Amy and Ethan while they’re in Maui.
This book is pretty low on the spice scale; there’s nothing too graphic in it, so this one’s for those who like extreme tension between characters.
The Secret Bridesmaid by Katy Birchall🌶️
If you’re feeling an easy, flirty read, The Secret Bridesmaid is a lighthearted romance with narratives about female friendship .
Sophie Breeze is a brilliant bridesmaid. So brilliant that it’s her job.
As a professional bridesmaid, she’s hired by London brides to be their right-hand woman, posing as a friend but working behind the scenes to make sure the wedding goes perfectly.
When she’s hired by Lady Victoria Swann—a former model and now the Marchioness of Meade—for the society wedding of the year, Sophie sees this as an opportunity to really make her name.
Of course there are a few minor snags in Sophie’s perfect plan—there’s the snobbish bride Cordelia and her handsome older brother, who is definitely off limits. But weddings seem to be the place where complications are just a part of her job, and she’s up to the noble challenge.
The Lover by Silvia Moreno-Garcia🌶️🌶️
Now this technically isn’t a novel, but a 43-page short story, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for something short, suspenseful, and sensual . Between the sexual tension and horror elements, The Lover is sure to captivate your dark fantasies.
During a brutal winter, a young woman longing for love finds more than what she expected in the woods. When a handsome hunter appears in their village, Judith believes her fated lover has finally arrived. He does choose to stay, but as her sister Alice’s husband, not her own. When another stranger comes out of the woods, looking every bit ragged and mysterious, he offers Judith something strange.
Against reason and decency, she welcomes both men into her life in different ways. As the unrelenting winter approaches and a dark wolf prowls in the woods, everyone is on edge... and ravenous. By the spring thaw, will any of their hunger be satisfied?
Beautiful World, Where Are You By Sally Rooney🌶️🌶️🌶️
In Beautiful World, Where Are You, we follow four people as Sally Rooney takes us on a journey full of human messiness. The two couples have a few nice and spicy moments throughout the novel, with all the tension and buildup you could ask for.
After Alice met Felix, she asked him to travel to Rome with her, on a whim. In Dublin, her best friend Eileen is getting over a breakup and slips back into flirting with Simon, a childhood friend she’s known for forever.
The four of them are young, but time is slowly ticking away. They stress, they fight, they love, they hope, and they struggle. Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Take it from someone who flew right through this book: the characters and romance (cough cough, lots of smut ) get you quick.
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She sees algorithms all around her and has been too busy with her high-paying job to have any time to date. It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned. Gross.
She needs practice, ideally with a professional, which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The swoon-worthy Vietnamese and Swedish guy can’t afford to turn down her offer and agrees to help her with all her lesson plans—including foreplay and beyond.
.
Their strictly professional relationship turns into something more when Stella suddenly starts craving more than logic
