Chapter 15:
Vira
Vira goes to see Surya in the dungeon. He reveals that it was his father that killed the last maharani, her mother. In exchange for his freedom he offers her information, but too soon lets slip that the coded note will lead to the third piece of the map.
Amrit is waiting for her outside of the dungeons, bringing her food and an apology and she relays what she learned from Surya. She also thinks on how the new alliance with Ishvat will bring their borders protection for maybe another year, but after that they will need more magic.
Chapter 16:
Riya
After her meeting with the Council in which she told them she had been staying with family in Adhura, Riya seeks out her old friends and learns that Preethi is set to be engaged to Ronak. She wonders if she might be able to use Preethi to get Ronak’s key to the quarry.
Chapter 17:
Ronak
Jay and Ronak descend to the palace morgue to search Harish’s body, but find the dagger missing and noted to be in Vira’s possession.
That night the Council throws a big welcome home dinner and concert in celebration of Riya’s return. Ronak and Jay decide this will be the best time to steal the piece of the map from the library, and as the concert starts they slip through the secret door and take the map piece out for the first time in hundreds of years.

Chapter 19:
Riya
After a week in the palace with not much change, Riya finally receives a note from the Ravens on the forged parchment telling her to go to the library. Once there she finds her group of friends staring at the new scholar who has arrived, and to her shock the scholar is Varun. He tells Riya that he has the books she was looking for so they are able to talk in private, but Riya storms away when he antagonizes her. To her friends who are watching, it looks like Riya and Varun are involved, and Riya decides not to make them think otherwise. They give her a magic bangle that can be used to send love letters.
Back in her room Riya finds a note from Vira inviting her to dinner. To her surprise Ronak knocks and asks her to steal the dagger from Vira’s room. She agrees, but in exchange he must give her his necklace with the pendant to the quarry.
Chapter 20:
Vira
After dinner Vira gets a note from Amrit to meet her in the training arena. They practice and spar and eventually Vira rips his kurta, revealing his fully bare and scarred chest. He tells her about how he got some of them. They continue to spar.
