The story continues...

Chapter 31:
At school members of the council call an emergency assembly to tell the students about the werewolf in the area, explaining that they’ll be testing all citizens to find out who it is. When Winnie confronts them afterwards, again the council completely disregards her information about the Whisperer, including Mario.

Chapter 32:
Jay picks her up after school, Winnie’s mom having asked the favour of him. He takes her to train

Chapter 33:
Wednesday morning Winnie heads out early to confront Mario for not backing her at the assembly. He explains that the council simply doesn’t believe the Whisperer exists. He also isn’t confident that they’ll be able to catch the werewolf.

Chapter 34:
Winnie and her family attend the clan dinner at the Wednesday estate, where everyone is more than happy to see them. At the end of the dinner Winnie drives her tipsy mom and brother home.

Chapter 35:
Winnie returns to the estate for the twins’ birthday party. Fatima takes her to her room to get ready with Emma and Bretta, dressing her up. Winnie gives the twins their birthday gift - vial necklaces containing banshee claws - and admits to herself she is having a lot of fun.

 Questions:

  1. What do you think is going to happen at the twins' birthday party?

  2. If Mario is sure the werewolf has been around for a while, why do you think the council is only now trying to determine who it is?

  3. There are only 40 pages left! Do you have any predictions for the last section of the book? Do you think the third trial will occur?
